KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): Petronas chairman Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan has resigned as a director of Top Glove Corporation Bhd and Malayan Flour Mills Bhd following a restriction on board appointments imposed by the national oil corporation.

“Petronas has decided its chairman to be exclusive to it, and therefore is restricted from sitting on the board of other public-listed company in Malaysia except on the board of government-linked companies, as a nominee of the government,” the two companies said in identical filings with Bursa Malaysia.

Sidek, 65, had served as an independent and non-executive director in both companies.

The former chief secretary to the government currently also serves as the chairman of Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn Bhd.
