KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): RGB International Bhd’s net profit rose 4.5% to RM6.2 million in the first quarter ended March 31, 2017 on (1QFY17) from RM5.93 million in the previous corresponding quarter, according to the company’s filing on Bursa Malaysia this evening.

However, the company’s profit before tax (PBT) had taken a hit, dipping to RM7.4 million from RM7.45 million a year ago.

Revenue was down nearly 33% to RM37.7 million from RM56.09 million, largely due to a 55% decline in contribution from its sales and marketing (SSM) division, pending the delivery of a particular number of machines ordered during the quarter.

Meanwhile, contribution from its technical support and management (TSM) division decreased by RM100,000. However, profit before tax was up RM700,000 mainly due to lower depreciation, the group said.

RGB also reported income of RM249,000 from a new engineering services division, and RM48,000 from the sales of refurbished machines and table games layout.

Going forward, the group said it was in the midst of actively promoting the provision of engineering services to all licensed operators and exploring new markets. It will also continue to capitalise on the products under its portfolio in the SSM division, as well as improve the performance of concession machines in the TSM division this year.

Shares in RGB closed down 0.5 sen or 1.67% at 29.5 sen today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM394.26 million. Some 10.62 million shares were traded.
