Flurry of takeovers sweeps Bursa
More than 10 companies get offers over the last two months
PETALING JAYA: A combination of factors such as expectations of more robust economic prospects next year coupled with the last leg of cheap credit are likely behind a spate of takeovers of locally listed companies.
Over the last two months, a record of more than 10 listed companies have become the target of takeover attempts, mostly by the company’s existing major owners.
To name a few, companies such as Johan Holdings Bhd , Hovid Bhd , Willowglen MSC Bhd , Yi-Lai Bhd and Wang-Zheng Bhd have seen takeover offers by their major shareholders.
