KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 23): Philippines AirAsia Inc plans to make the Philippines' Clark International Airport the budget airline's operations hub as the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) has inadequate space for the airline's aircraft-fleet growth.

Rappler, quoting Philippines AirAsia chief executive officer Dexter Comendador, reported today that Clark has waived AirAsia's airport, landing, and takeoff fees. Clark is located in Pampanga while NAIA is situated in Metro Manila.

"We plan to establish Clark as our main hub, because Manila is too crowded. If I have 70 planes in 10 years, I do not have a place to park in Manila.

"Since we are opening Clark as a hub, we plan to fly to Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taipei," Comendador told reporters on the sidelines of a briefing in Taguig City last week.

According to news reports in 2013, Philippines AirAsia had moved to NAIA from Clark during that year.
