Malaysian Bulk Carriers’s CEO retires, appoints Hor Weng Yew

KUALA LUMPUR (May 14): Malaysian Bulk Carriers Bhd has appointed Hor Weng Yew as chief executive officer (CEO), effectively immediately.

Hor, 51, had been Executive Director and was appointed to the board on Jan 16, 2018. He is currently the chief operating officer of Pacific Carriers Limited Group. Prior to his current appointment, he was Senior Director, Tanker and Strategic Business Development for the Kuok (Singapore) Ltd Group.

He replaces Kuok Khoon Kuan, 70, who has retired from the position of CEO, the group’s Bursa Malaysia filing today, showed.

Meanwhile, Thai Kum Foon, a Singaporean, has been appointed Executive Director, effective today. Thai, 52, is also currently the chief financial officer of Kuok (Singapore) Ltd Group.

Additionally, Wu Long Peng, 62, who is also a Singaporean, has been redesignated as Non Executive Director.

Malaysian Bulk Carriers’ shares closed up 13.5 sen or 21.09% to 77.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM780 million.
