KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): Based corporate announcements and news flows today, stocks in focus on Thursday (Dec 6) may include: Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd, Berjaya Food Bhd, BIMB Holdings Bhd, Straits Inter Logistics Bhd, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, Willowglen MSC Bhd, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, and Gamuda Bhd.

Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd secured an RM211.6 million contract from PBB Group Bhd for construction works at a mixed development project at Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya. The new job brings its outstanding order book to about RM3.08 billion.

Berjaya Food Bhd’s net profit grew 21% year-on-year in its second quarter ended Oct 31, 2018 (2QFY19) to RM7.03 million from RM5.81 million, which it attributed to its Starbucks cafes, especially the opening of new outlets. The company recommended a second interim dividend of 1 sen per share for FY19 to be paid on Jan 25, 2019.

BIMB Holdings Bhd named Mohd Muazzam Mohamed as its new chief executive officer (CEO) effective today. He is currently acting CEO of the firm’s subsidiary Bank Islam Malaysia, and is to be both BIMB and Bank Islam’s CEO.

Oil trading and bunkering operator Straits Inter Logistics Bhd is proposing to diversify into land transportation and logistics to meet the rising demand from its existing customers for such services.

It foresees that the net profit attributable to the inland transportation business segment could contribute more than a fourth of total net profit in future fiscal years. The group said this was to meet a rising demand for such services from existing customers.

A technology unit of Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd is set to acquire a 30% stake (251,152 shares) in it solutions provider eNoah iSolution India Pvt Ltd for a sum of RM14.94 million, as part of the group’s expansion into the tech sector. It has also allocated RM30 million for existing and upcoming projects next year.

eNoah iSolution was established in India, but has an international presence including countries like Malaysia and Singapore where it's mainly engaged in the provision of information technology (IT) solutions, business management and support services, and software and IT products platforms for clients.

Willowglen MSC Bhd’s Singapore unit secured a one-year RM14.39 million contract to provide supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and radio frequency identification (RFID) solutions.

Lower content costs and royalty fees helped to lift Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s net profit marginally to RM153.21 million for the third quarter net profit of as of Oct 31, up 4.45% from RM146.68 million in the previous corresponding quarter.

Quarterly revenue was almost flat at RM1.38 billion versus RM1.39 billion a year ago, according to its filing with Bursa Malaysia after market close this evening. The group declared a third interim single-tier dividend of 2.5 sen per share, payable by Jan 4, 2019.

Gamuda Bhd said hearing of a suit filed by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) against its subsidiary for non-payment of bills has been adjourned to Jan 8 next year, pending settlement negotiations between the parties.

In the suit filed in March last year, TNB claimed Gamuda’s 80%-owned subsidiary Gamuda Water Sdn Bhd failed to settle four electricity bills totalling RM39.51 million.
