GLCs’ debt levels up

PETALING JAYA: Debt levels of listed companies owned by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) and Khazanah Nasional Bhd generally went up this year compared with last year.

Although the debt in absolute amount increased, the gearing levels of companies under Khazanah and PNB remained healthy and are well below 100%.

As for LTAT, the debt level of the flagship Boustead Holdings Bhd increased and its gearing was estimated at 130% as of end September this year.

Based on a study done by a private research house, the total debt of the nine listed companies under Khazanah came up to RM54.69bil as of end September this year. This is an increase of about 11%, compared with RM49.17bil in the corresponding period last year.
