2 exhibitions to immerse in

Starting tomorrow is Tiong Chai Heing’s exhibition, Impermanence is the Antidote of Frailness. Influenced by her childhood in an oil palm estate, Tiong delves deep into natural patterns. Her painting style is unique, as she manipulates the canvas and uses a range of materials, including fabric extracted from used wedding gowns. Through the multitude of textures and details, the artist explores the struggle of mankind. The exhibition runs from tomorrow until June 2, from 11am to 7pm, except on Tuesdays and public holidays. Get your cultural juices flowing with a visit to Ilham Gallery, for Rediscovering Forgotten Thai Masters of Photography, a collaboration between NUS Museum, Singapore and Manit Sriwanichpoom. The photography exhibit gathers images of 1950s to 1970s in Thailand, by Buddhadasa Bhiku, Liang Ewe, SH Lim, Saengjun Limlohakul, Pornsak Sakdaenprai, Rong Wong-Savun and ML Toy Xoomsai. A glimpse into traditions at the onset of modern Thailand, with over 200 photographs found and remastered. The exhibit is showing from tomorrow until Aug 25 from 11am to 7pm. Award-winning saxophonist Minyen Hsieh releases his second solo album As Good As Water. He began performing at the age of 19, and went on to study at Koninklijk Conservatorium, Brussels.
