Sarawak drives digital economy plan with tie-ups

KUCHING: Sarawak is to further drive its digital economy ambition with a series of partnership tie-ups with international digital technology providers.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sacofa Sdn Bhd would ink a joint venture agreement with Datastream Technology Sdn Bhd of Brunei Darussalam today to provide high-speed retail Internet services in Sarawak.

State-owned Sacofa is a one-stop centre providing telecommunication and infrastructure to service providers in Sarawak.It has exclusive rights to construct, own and manage telecommunication infrastructure on the concept of sharing basis.

In 2015, Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd (CMS) acquired a 50% stake in Sacofa for about RM187mil.
