New models, designs to sustain buying interest

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has maintained its 600,000 units total industry volume (TIV) forecast for this year, in light of the economic uncertainties that are expected to remain for the rest of 2019.

MAA president Datuk Aishah Ahmad said consumers and businesses were expected to remain cautious going into the second half of this year, adding however that this will only spur aggressive promotional campaigns by local car companies.

“The introduction of new models with the latest additional specifications, designs and at very competitive prices can assist to sustain buying interest,” she said at MAA’s second bi-annual media conference yesterday.

Aishah also said stringent hire purchase lending rules were expected to continue.
