Lee Min On appointed as Lii Hen’s new chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 1): Lii Hen Industries Bhd has appointed Lee Min On as its independent and non-executive chairman effectively today.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the group said Lee is replacing Lan Haw Chong @ Lau Haw Chong who resigned today due to personal reasons.

Lee, 59, is the Audit Committee Chairman of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Malaysia. He has also retired as a partner of KPMG in Malaysia on Dec 31, 2015 after serving for 36 years.

Apart from this position, he also holds directorships in four other public-listed companies, namely Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd, APM Automotive Holdings Bhd, Warisan TC Holdings Bhd and Kotra Industries Bhd. He sits on the board as the Independent Non-Executive Director for all of these four companies.

Lau, 67, had been involved in professional association activities and had represented various associations in consultative meetings and dialogues with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, Ministry of Finance Malaysia, Malaysia Department of Insolvency, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, Royal Malaysian Customs Department and other Government departments and agencies.

He was formerly a council member and president of the Malaysian Association of Company Secretaries.

According to Lii Hen’s Annual report 2018, Lau was first appointed to the board on Sept 12, 2013, and he is not a director of any other public company.

Shares of Lii Hen closed unchanged at RM2.96 today, valuing the company at RM532.8 million.
