JOHOR BAHRU (Aug 16): The Johor Government is considering to introduce a housing scheme called ‘Johor Prihatin’ for the B40 group.

Johor Housing, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad said the proposal had been submitted to the State Government and awaiting approval.

"This is after taking into account those who could not apply for a housing loan from any commercial bank because their household income is under RM4,000 a month," he told reporters after opening the MyRumah Property Show organised by The New Straits Times Press Berhad (NSTP) here today.

Under the scheme, he said the proposed loan repayment would be for a 20-year period at RM200 monthly.

"We will use our own funds, derived from the 7.5 percent charge on conversion of bumiputera housing lots to non-bumiputera lots.

"The funds would also come from the penalty of RM40,000 for every unit of Rumah Mampu Biaya (affordable homes) that developers failed to deliver, or RM60,000 per unit if they pay in four instalments within two years," he said.
