KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 22): The High Court today fixed next Thursday (Aug 29) for Pinerains Sdn Bhd to file its affidavit against the vesting order required for the merger between JF Apex Securities Bhd and Mercury Securities Sdn Bhd.

JF Apex is wholly-owned by Apex Equity Holdings Bhd, in which Pinerains has a 4.17% stake.

At the case management session today, Justice Azizul Azmi Adnan suggested Pinerains lawyer Ranjit Singh to have the affidavit ready by noon Aug 29, and get it emailed to Apex Equity's lawyers before 5pm that day.

Justice Azizul also fixed Friday (Aug 30) as the next case management date.

Pinerains also has to decide whether to file counterclaims along with its affidavit on Aug 29.

On Tuesday (Aug 20), the High Court allowed Pinerains to intervene in a vesting order application relating to the merger.

A vesting order is required in a merger exercise to transfer to — and vest in — one party all of another party's rights, assets and liabilities.
