IPOH (Feb 7): A total of 17 of the 24 division head posts of Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) will be contested in the party elections scheduled to be held from Feb 15 to March 29.

Chairman of the Perak Party Election Committee Saiful Adli Mohd Arshad said the remaining seven — Tambun, Kuala Kangsar, Bagan Datuk, Batu Gajah, Ipoh Timur, Padang Rengas and Taiping — will see the incumbents uncontested.

“The Bagan Serai division will see the most number of candidates vying for the same post, with a five-cornered fight, followed by a four-cornered one in the Lumut division,” he said in a press conference to announce the candidates at the Perak Bersatu office here today.

Meanwhile, he said, there will be no contest at all levels at the Tambun and Bagan Datuk Bersatu divisions.

Saiful Adli also said this time, 1,225 of the 28,000 Perak Bersatu members are contesting at the division, women and youth (Armada) wings.

Perak Bersatu members can appeal or protest the elections to the central committee from now until Feb 14, he added.

He said their appeals or protests can be sent by email to [email protected].
