KUCHING: Sarawak Cable Bhd has disposed of all but one helicopter as its loss-making aviation business has been a drag on its bottom line.
For the remaining helicopter, which has been left idle for years, it has recognised impairment of RM58mil in the last quarter.
The passenger transport helicopter, H225 Super Puma, was acquired at RM100mil and delivered to Sarawak Cable in 2016. It is reported to be the largest and most expensive among the company’s fleet of nine helicopters. Before the disposal, most of the helicopters were chartered out, including five on long-term lease to the Defence Ministry.
