GEORGE TOWN: Plastic packaging maker SLP RESOURCES BHD will resume shipments to Australia, New Zealand and Japan in June, as more retail and food and beverage businesses open up, which will help improve the group’s performance in the second half over the first.
Group managing director Kelvin Khaw (pic below) told StarBiz that SLP had recently received instructions from Australian customers to start delivering 350 tonnes of backlog orders from June.
“Australia consumes about 1,300 tonnes of flexible packaging materials yearly, contributing 5% to our revenue. We can expect to ship out another 600 tonnes before the end of the year. “Most of the orders from Australia are shopping bags used for the retail sector, ” Khaw said.
