Bursa trading volume hits fresh high of 16.98 billion shares

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 7): Bursa Malaysia has yet again reached a new trading volume, beating yesterday’s trading volume of 16.69 billion shares.

At 2.54pm, a total of 16.98 billion shares worth RM5.74 billion were traded on the local bourse today.

Among the top actively traded stocks on Bursa Malaysia Bhd at the moment, Borneo Oil Bhd is in first place, registering some 2.06 billion shares.

In second place is Pegasus Heights Bhd, which is currently seeing 748.35 million shares transacted.

Meanwhile, third place goes to Eduspec Holdings Bhd, registering some 451.59 million shares.

Today marks the fourth time this week that trading volume on the local bourse has swelled to new record highs.

Market breadth is largely positive with 518 gainers versus 477 decliners, while 493 counters were unchanged.

Six of the 29 indices present on the stock exchange were in the green.

The biggest gainer among these six were the FBM ACE, up 3.44% or 362.22 points at 10,885.49 points, and the FBM FLG or fledging index, which is up 3.20% or 521.88 points at 16,810.78 points.

Meanwhile, the headline FBM KLCI index is down 0.15% or 2.31 points at 1,586.26 points.
