PETALING JAYA: Opposition leader and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed concern that several stocks listed on the local bourse that are linked to him have recently seen extraordinarily active trading and gains.

In a statement yesterday, he urged investors to invest carefully and not on rumours

“I want to stress that I have no financial interests whatsoever in these stocks.

“It is an unfortunate reflection of the state of our economy that such rumours can move markets.”

In view of this, Anwar is encouraging Bursa Malaysia and the Securities Commission to immediately take appropriate action against any individuals manipulating the market via malicious political rumours.

The stocks that were linked to him saw selling pressure yesterday and fell.

On Thursday, Anwar claimed that he had been granted an audience with the King today.

“In that meeting, I will present a strong and convincing majority of Parliamentarians as I have mentioned before. I hope Malaysians will remain calm and pray from their homes or at their workplaces, as well as respect the recovery movement control order, ” Anwar said in a statement last Thursday.
