The King quashes Muhyiddin's state of emergency plea

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 25): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah quashed a proposal by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to impose a state of emergency today after conferring with the Conference of Malay rulers at the palace here today.

In a statement released by the palace's Comptroller of the Royal Household, Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that after meeting the rulers, Yang di-Pertuan Agong is happy with the current government's handling of the Covid-19 situation in the country and has trust in Muhyiddin's government in handling the crisis.

"The Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah is of the opinion that there is no need at this time to impose a state of emergency in the country or in any specific part of the country," the statement read.
