KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 11): Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will announce tomorrow the details of the SOP for the upcoming Movement Control Order (MCO) that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced today.

Ismail Sabri said the authorities also detained 16 illegal immigrants and seized three land vehicles yesterday under the ‘Op Benteng’ operation to prevent the illegal entry of foreigners into the country.

He also said that between July 24, 2020, and yesterday, 102,642 people returned to the country through the international gateways. Of the number, 8,375 underwent Covid-19 quarantine and 540 were sent to hospitals for treatment of the disease.

The minister announced the scheduled termination today of the Enhanced MCO (EMCO) in several zones, namely Madrasah Daril Naim, Padang Halban, Mukim Peringat, Kota Bharu in Kelantan and Kampung Paginatan and Kampung Maringkan, Ranau, in Sabah.

The EMCO at the Kamunting Correctional Centre and quarters in Taiping, Perak, will end as scheduled tomorrow, he said.

However, he said, the EMCO at the transit centre for accused persons, involving the Gemilang, Harapan, Jaya and Abadi blocks, has been extended to Jan 26.
