MITI's Approval Allowing K-One Technology Bhd's R&D Activites To Operate During MCO - Phase 3

The Movement Control Order (MCO) invoked by the government to curb the spread of Covid-19 which came into effect on 18 March 2020 was extended twice; the first time to 14 April 2020 and a second time until 28 April 2020 which, the latter is referred to as MCO – Phase 3. Additional business sectors, among which include R&D activities related to Covid-19 were allowed to operate in MCO – Phase 3. As such K-One Tech submitted its application to the Ministry of International Trade & Industry (“MITI”) for their consideration.

 

The Board of Directors of K-One Technology Bhd (“K-One Tech” or “Company”) wishes to announce that MITI on 19 April 2020 had approved its Research, Design & Development Centre (“RD&D”) located in its Head Office at Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya to operate during the MCO – Phase 3. K-One Tech plans to focus on the engineering development and prototype build of the ventilator as announced on 13 April’20. It is also assessing the design and development of swabs used to collect sample material for Covid-19 tests which may be 3-D printed to meet the surge in demand during this Covid-19 pandemic crisis period.  

 

MITI’s approval granted to K-One Tech to operate during the MCO – Phase 3 is subject to meeting various conditions, amongst the key ones are:

 

  1. The number of employees working in the premise during the MCO period is to be reduced to a minimum or at most 50% of the current or registered number. The Company is to establish a work from home system for those employees’ activities which are less critical.
  2. The working hours is to be 8 am to 5 pm; Monday – Friday as per the Standard Operating Procedure issued by the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Malaysia.
  3. The Company is required to furnish to MITI the list of employees involved and such employees are restricted to travel to and fro from home to the workplace only.
  4. The Company shall provide thermal scanner to take the body temperature of employees daily at the premise entrance and such records are to be kept for at least 3 months.
  5. If the body temperature exceeds 37.5 ℃, the Company is required to send the employee concerned to the nearest government health clinic.
  6. All employees must comply with the Covid-19 prevention procedures issued by the Ministry of Health, Malaysia from time to time.
  7. The Company shall provide sanitizer at the premise entrance and common areas and to ensure that all employees wear face masks.
  8. The Company shall ensure the practice of social distancing is implemented, including in meeting rooms and multi-purpose hall.
  9. The Company is to carry out disinfection prior to work commencement and sanitization or cleaning thrice a day, especially in common areas.
  10. Employees residing in the same district/zone as the premise/workplace concerned are allowed to work in the premise while those living outside the premise’s district/zone are required to be confirmed Covid-19 free and quarantined for 14 days before being allowed to work in the premise.
  11. In the event that an employee is reported to be infected with Covid-19, the Company is responsible to bear the full cost of medical expenses, the process of decontamination of the premise and any other related costs.
