Further to our announcements dated 25 February 2020, 2 March 2020 and 6 March 2020 in relation to the Writ served to Scicom (MSC) Berhad (the “Company”) by Education Malaysia Global Services, the Company wishes to announce that the Kuala Lumpur High Court (“Court”) has on 27 July 2020 dismissed the Company’s application to stay the Court proceedings pending a reference to arbitration under the terms of the agreement between the parties.  

The Company is appealing the decision to the Court of Appeal and has been advised by its legal counsel that there are strong grounds to reverse the decision under appeal. In any event, this is a procedural ruling and does not deal with the substantive issues. The Company is accordingly of the view that the decision is not expected to have a material financial or operational impact on the Company.

Further announcements will be made as and when there are material development on the case.
