We refer to the Company’s announcements on public shareholding spread dated 3 January 2019, 9 January 2019, 17 January 2019, 25 February 2019, 25 April 2019, 3 June 2019, 6 August 2019, 25 October 2019, 15 November 2019 and 26 February 2020, 29 April 2020 and 22 June 2020.

The Board of Directors of Unisem wishes to announce the following Status Announcement on the compliance with the required public shareholding spread, in conjunction with the release of the Company’s quarterly results for the second quarter ended 30 June 2020, pursuant to Section 3.3 of Practice Note 19 of the Main Market Listing Requirements (“Listing Requirements”):

(a) The Company currently does not meet the requirement as set out in paragraph 8.02(1) of the Listing Requirements which states that a listed issuer must ensure that at least 25% of its total listed shares (excluding treasury shares) are in the hands of public shareholders (“Public Spread Requirement”).

(b) Based on the Company’s Register of Depositors as at 30 June 2020, the public shareholding spread of the Company was at 15.334%. This percentage represents a shortfall of 9.666% from the Public Spread Requirement.

(c) Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (“Bursa Securities”) had vide their letter dated 22 June 2020 granted the Company an extension of time from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2020 to comply with the Public Spread Requirement. 

(d) The Company together with Huatian Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“HT Malaysia”) will continue to work on addressing the shortfall in the Public Spread Requirement.
