Genting Malaysia Berhad (“GENM”) had, on 7 April 2021, issued the notice of its Forty-First Annual General Meeting (“41st AGM”) to be held on a virtual basis with live streaming from the Broadcast Venue, 25th Floor, Wisma Genting, Jalan Sultan Ismail, 50250 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday, 2 June 2021 at 10.00 a.m.

On 28 May 2021, a statement was issued by the Prime Minister’s Office subsequent to the special meeting of the National Security Council where the decision was made to implement a  lockdown in phases with the initial phase of a total lockdown starting from 1 June 2021 to 14 June 2021 nationwide to curb the sharp increase in COVID-19 infections in Malaysia.

In response, the Securities Commission issued a revision to its Guidance Notes and Frequently Asked Questions on the Conduct of General Meetings (“Updated SC Guidance”), which takes effect on 1 June 2021 when the nationwide total lockdown is implemented. The Updated SC Guidance requires GENM to conduct a FULLY virtual General Meeting during the total lockdown period where all meeting participants including the Chairperson of the meeting, board members, senior management and shareholders participate in the meeting online.

As the planned live streaming of the 41st AGM proceedings from the Broadcast Venue is no longer feasible during the total lockdown period, the Board of Directors of GENM has decided to postpone the 41st AGM of the Company to a later date which will be notified in due course.
