MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad ("Company")’s wholly-owned subsidiary, MSM Prai Berhad (“MSM Prai”) had signed a Certificate of Collaboration (“COC”) with the Department of Environment (“DOE”) of Penang, towards enabling green initiatives in conserving the environment. The COC was signed in conjunction with National Environment Day on 13 October 2021 by MSM Group Chief Executive Officer, Syed Feizal Syed Mohammad, and the Director of Penang DOE, Sharifah Zakiah Syed Sahab.

As part of the programme, a total of 700 mangrove saplings will be planted along the riverbank of Sungai Perai. Mangrove tree planting will benefit the wider ecosystem through protection of water quality, stabilisation of riverbank, fostering of fish habitats and a contributor to climate change mitigation. In addition, it also positively impacts the livelihood of local community who depend on the well-being of the ecosystem, especially the fishery sector. The Penang Inshore Fisherman Welfare Association (“PIFWA”) will also be involved in the mangrove tree planting initiative.

The Company shall continue to step up on green and sustainability programme under Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) framework.
