The outlook of the Group’s oil mill division will be largely dependent on the prices of crude palm kernel oil and crude palm oil which are closely linked with crude oil prices. The intense price war between the major oil producing countries coupled with the unprecedented global lockdown has triggered the collapse in global oil prices. Palm oil prices are anticipated to remain under pressure for the rest of year 2020, consequently affecting downstream margins. The Group will continue to monitor and implement appropriate measures in order to remain competitive to weather through these unprecedented challenges.
The Board and management of the Company will remain focused on enhancing efficiencies and generating value within the respective operating divisions of the Group to sustain the Group’s profits and growth in the long term. Nevertheless, the Group’s healthy cash flow and balance sheet will serve as a war chest to capitalise on potential mergers and acquisitions or penetrating into new business opportunities when they arise. The Board is confident that the Group is well positioned to ride through the current volatilities and uncertainties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
