Green Packet appoints Firmansyah Aang as chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (June 21): Digital solutions provider Green Packet Bhd on Tuesday (June 21) announced the appointment of Datuk Firmansyah Aang Muhamad as its independent and non-executive chairman. 

He replaces Tan Sri Omar Abdul Rahman, who has retired after holding the post for 18 years. 

On June 1, Firmansyah was also appointed to the board of GIIB Holdings Bhd as an independent and non-executive director since. 

According to Green Packet’s bourse filing, Firmansyah sat on the board of National Board Stadium and was involved in sports development programmes such as the National Football Development Programme and Junior Cycling Malaysia.

He was also involved in setting up an Umno Youth programme to promote young professionals from local and foreign universities to be involved in politics.

Last month, Green Packet reported a first quarter net loss of RM19.98 million, compared with a net profit of RM18.81 million a year earlier. Revenue fell to RM102.34 million from RM142.71 million.

Green Packet’s share price settled unchanged at six sen on Tuesday, bringing a market capitalisation of RM96.19 million.
