KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): Tasco Bhd's 70%-owned subsidiary Tasco Yusen Gold Cold (TYGC) has received the JSA-S1004:2020 certification from Japan's certification body Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK), which indicates that TYGC adheres to the standards for business-to-business (B2B) cold chain logistics services.

TYGC Group Chief Executive Officer Freddie Lim said the company is the first in ASEAN countries to receive this certification.

The JSA-S1004 certification entails requirements for low temperature storage services and low temperature transport services. These requirements were developed by the Japanese Standard Association under the leadership of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, and are in compliance with ASEAN-Japan guidelines on cold chain logistics.

"With this certification, we have become the leading company in ASEAN for third-party cold chain logistics services. Our clients can be further assured of the quality and competency of our cold chain logistics services,” said Lim in a statement on Thursday (July 28).

The remaining 30% stake in TYGC is owned by Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corp for Transport and Urban Development, a Japanese government-private sponsored infrastructure investment fund company.

Tasco shares closed up 2 sen or 2.11% at 97 sen on Thursday, bringing the company a market capitalisation of RM776 million.
