Pekat bags moneylender licence from Housing Ministry

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 5): Pekat Group Bhd has bagged a moneylender licence from the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. 

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Monday (Sept 5), Pekat said its wholly owned subsidiary, Solaroo RE Sdn Bhd (SRSB), had on Aug 26 obtained a moneylender licence issued under the Moneylenders Act 1951 and the Moneylenders (Control and Licensing) Regulations 2003 from the ministry. 

The licence is effective from Aug 26 for over two years and is renewable upon making the renewal application with the Housing Ministry.

“The licence allows SRSB to undertake business of money lending services in relation to solar leasing and other related services,” added Pekat.

Pekat is a solutions provider specialising in the design, supply, distribution and installation of lightning protection system, earthing system and surge protection system and its related technologies, according to its website.

Pekat’s share price settled 1.1% or half a sen lower at 45 sen, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM290.2 million. 

Listed on the ACE Market on June 23 last year, the stock has slipped 33.82% year to date.
