GCB powers up 507.28 KWp solar PV systems with Muda Paper Mills

KUALA LUMPUR: G Capital Bhd's (GCB) 70 per cent-owned subsidiary, Solarcity Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SMSB), has completed the installation and commenced operation of a 507.28 KWp solar photovoltaic electric power generation system for Muda Paper Mills Sdn Bhd (MPM).

This latest installation fulfills GCB's supplemental power purchase agreement (PPA) with MPM, inked on 30 May 2022.

SMSB installed the solar PV system at the MPM factory located in Simpang Ampat, Penang.

GCB executive director Datuk Yap Yee Ping witnessed the completion and commissioning of this 507.28 KWp add-on to 3,006.72KWp the company installed and commissioned on 16 February 2022 for MPM.

"With that, we have achieved a year-to-date of 15.0 MWp solar PV system installed," she said in a statement today.

MPM is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Muda Holdings Bhd listed on Bursa Malaysia.

MPM is involved in the manufacturing and selling of paper and paper-related products.

According to the filing with Bursa Malaysia, the plant will contribute revenue and earnings to GCB over 25 years from 15 September 2022, the commercial operation date.

"With the completion of the 509.28 KWp solar PV systems in Simpang Ampat, this brings our total installed solar PV system capacity to 16.1 MWp inception-to-date," Yap said.
