KUALA LUMPUR: Datasonic Group Bhd has appointed former public service director-general Tan Sri Borhan Dolah and accountant Datin Normaliza Kairon as its new independent and non-executive directors effective from today.

Borhan has more than 35 years of experience in the public sector and held multiple roles in public agencies and ministries. 

Throughout his tenure in the public sector, he was also appointed as a government representative on the Employee Provident Fund board of directors. 

Among other roles held by Borhan previously were a permanent executive member for the National Action Council on cost of living, chairman of the investment committee for Southeast Johor Development Authority and Felcra asset management.

Borhan currently serves as chairman of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's consultation and corruption prevention panel, chairman of the panel of experts committee at Ministry of Youth and Sports and chairman of RISDA Holding Sdn Bhd.

Normaliza, meanwhile, has been a chartered accountant since 1998 and a member of CPA Australia since 2015.

She had a vast experience in corporate reporting and governance, particularly with her role in enforcing the approved accounting standards and other corporate requirements on public listed companies and monitoring the public listed companies governance practices pursuant to the introduction of the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance, during her 10-year tenure with the Securities Commission. 

She was also involved in the financial and corporate reporting in Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd, Malayan Banking Bhd and Proton Holdings Bhd

In the later years of her career, she was involved in the economic development and socio-economic transformation within the Economic Transformation Programme during her tenure with Teraju.

She was also instrumental in the formation and introduction of initiatives such as the Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera and programs with the economic corridors.

Normaliza is an advocate of the sustainable development agenda and an alumna of the United Nations SDG Academy.
