KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): Bursa Malaysia’s key index ended the morning trading session lower due to the lack of buying momentum. 

At the lunch break on Monday (Dec 5), the benchmark FBM KLCI had fallen by 9.21 points to 1,472.59, from last Friday's closing at 1,481.80. 

The market bellwether opened 0.28 of a point higher at 1,482.08, and moved between 1,470.89 and 1,482.08 throughout the morning session.

On the broader market, gainers led losers by 456 to 425, while 362 counters were unchanged, 998 untraded and nine others suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.31 billion units valued at RM987.72 million.

Of the heavyweight stocks, Public Bank Bhd rose by two sen to RM4.43 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd added one sen to RM8.53, while Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) was flat at RM8.58, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd eased four sen to RM5.60, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) slipped 25 sen to RM9.13, and Digi.Com Bhd deducted 10 sen to RM3.89.

Among the actives, MQ Technology Bhd increased two sen to 7.5 sen, SMTrack Bhd went up one sen to 7.5 sen, Advance Synergy inched up half a sen to 19.5 sen and Icon Offshore Bhd edged up half a sen to 16 sen, while Borneo Oil Bhd was flat at two sen. 

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index decreased 56.50 points to 10,596.70, the FBMT 100 Index fell 65.34 points to 10,291.81, the FBM Emas Shariah Index went down 89.03 points to 10,788.88 and the FBM 70 depreciated 86.33 points to 12,984.86, while the FBM ACE garnered 17.96 points to 5,383.85. 

Sector-wise, the Financial Services Index slipped 22.61 points to 16,423.81, the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.07 of a point to 181.75, and the Plantation Index reduced by 32.21 points to 6,775.64, while the Energy Index improved by 13.44 points to 813.55.
