OPPO INNO DAY 2022 showcased OPPO’s determination to enrich its four Smart Initiatives

To further reinforce this, OPPO recently held its annual technology event to showcase its initiatives and what's to come from the tech giant. Held on Dec 14, OPPO INNO DAY 2022, themed "Empowering a better future", showcased the company's determination to enrich its four smart initiatives - entertainment, productivity, health and learning - to create a more inclusive and more positive future for all.

Laying the groundwork for the future

At OPPO INNO DAY 2022, the company once more demonstrated how it is pushing the boundaries of technology through its belief in virtuous innovation. Smart connected experiences remained a key focus with technologies that were centred on openness and inclusiveness, inspiring greater collaboration, innovation and possibilities to empower a better life.

OPPO's OHealth H1, unveiled at this year's event, was a prime example of this commitment. As its first product under its OHealth brand, the OHealth H1 offers a proactive approach to help users build healthy lifestyles. The ultra-lightweight health monitor uses high-precision sensors and industry-leading health algorithms to monitor blood oxygen, ECG, heart and lung auscultation, heart rate, body temperature and sleep conditions.

Last year at OPPO INNO DAY 2021, the brand unveiled the first self-developed dedicated imaging NPU, the MariSilicon X. This year, the brand revealed the second member of the MariSilicon family - the all-new MariSilicon Y Bluetooth audio SoC. The brand-new, self-developed Pro Bluetooth Pack increases the Bluetooth bandwidth by a massive 50% compared with the highest spec Bluetooth SoCs on the market, allowing users to enjoy top quality audio while opening new possibilities in spatial audio experiences.

OPPO also demonstrated its latest Assisted Reality glass - the OPPO Air Glass 2 - at the event. Weighing only about 38g, the OPPO Air Glass 2 boasts the world's first resin optical waveguide lens that supports vision correction and further customisation. The new glass ushers in a new era of human-machine interaction with capabilities for making phone calls, real-time translation, location-based navigation and voice-to-text conversion for people with hearing impairment.

Over the years, OPPO has continued to build its own technology ecosystem by joining hands with global partners to create an open, inclusive and thriving community. Fuelled by its belief in using the power of technology to improve lives and to continue driving innovation for good, the company launched the OPPO Research Institute Innovation Accelerator in May.

The programme was designed to explore solutions in accessible technology and digital health together with technology professionals and entrepreneurs. In late August, OPPO announced the 10 teams that would be awarded a grant of about US$46,000, along with support, to bring their innovative solutions to life.

Unfolding the next evolutionary step for smartphones

One of the main highlights of INNO Day 2022 was the arrival of the brand's next-generation foldable smartphone, the OPPO Find N2. Engineered by OPPO, the new smartphone incorporates the best features of its predecessor - the award-winning OPPO Find N - along with enhanced features such as minimal creases and a new Hasselblad Camera.

The OPPO Find N2 presents itself as a premium offering in the smartphone segment, striking the perfect balance of elegance, performance and practicality. Boasting a lightweight design and a balanced size, making it perfect for one-handed use, the Find N2 is the lightest horizontal foldable around. The new OPPO foldable weighs in at just 237g in Green and White and 233g in Black Vegan Leather. It also features a slim profile, measuring just 14.6mm when closed and 7.4mm when opened.

A major feature of the Find N2 is its new Flexion Hinge, which OPPO has now miniaturised. Although thinner and smaller, the Flexion Hinge is now more robust, thanks to its revised structure that incorporates materials like carbon fibre and high-strength alloy.

The Flexion Hinge matched with OPPO's exacting approach to engineering results in a foldable display crease that is almost invisible from most angles. Compared to the Find N, the width of the crease along the centre of the Find N2's inner display is narrower by 67%, significantly reducing its visibility. A less visible crease means fewer visual interruptions, allowing users to focus on what matters.

Additionally, there is no hinge gap when closing the Find N2. Folding and unfolding the smartphone is smooth and secure due to the second-generation Flexion Hinge's precision-engineered cam and spring design. Its Flex-form mode allows the Find N2 to hold a position at any angle between 45° and 125°. Providing users with the "Golden Ratio", the Find N2's screens deliver enough room to type, watch and play at all times, adding to its convenience and versatility.

Once more raising the bar for computational photography for smartphones, the Find N2 is equipped with the MarriSilicon X NPU and Hasselblad camera, which were first introduced in the OPPO Find X5 Pro. Armed with a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera and 32-megapixel telephoto camera along with Sony's powerful new IMX890 sensor on its 50MP main camera, the Find N2 is able to deliver versatile shooting experiences and studio-grade selfies for users.
