KUALA LUMPUR: YNH Property Bhd has condemned actions by certain individuals allegedly spreading fake news containing serious allegations, accusations and inferences against the company as well as its directors, management and shareholders.

The property developer claimed that certain purported "news" portals and websites had published articles containing defamatory, false representations and reports deliberately distorted to inflict severe damage and harm to its operations.

"We also note that there are elements of criminal intimidation related to the fake news as there were also threats of more fake news if a certain amount of money is not paid," YNH Property said in a statement today.

"Police reports have been made of criminal intimidation, and malicious articles and complaints have also been lodged with the regulatory authorities, including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.

"We hope that the authorities will quickly investigate this matter and take the necessary action to safeguard the interests of our shareholders and other stakeholders."

YNH Propertyy said it would seek legal advice on the matter and take legal action where necessary to protect it and its stakeholders. 

The company said it strongly condemned the use of fake news and criminal intimidation to undermine the reputation of its stakeholders, adding that it would not be intimidated by such unlawful tactics.

"YNH Property is committed to pursuing the matter to its finality and will use all available means to protect the company's and our stakeholders' interests.

"We advise the public to visit our official website to verify any matters related to the company and not be misled by any fake news," the company noted.
