PETALING JAYA: GDEX Bhd, a leading delivery services provider, has launched its new auto hub here to fulfill the increasing dynamic requirements from the customers.
Managing director Teong Teck Lean said it had spent RM25 million for the new GDEX Auto Hub.
"GDEX's daily sorting capacity has nearly tripled to 350,000 shipments per day, increasing our sorting and delivery efficiencies and ultimately, the quality of service to our customers," he said at the launch today.
The new 145,000 sq ft fully automated sorting facility uses intelligent sorting technology with a 99.99 per cent of sorting accuracy to reduce turnaround time and risk of parcel damage.
The new auto hub is 30 per cent larger than GDEX's previous sorting hub in Petaling Jaya and employs a two deck cross-belt sorter to improve sorting capacity by leveraging the hub's air space.
The auto hub also employs environmentally friendly technology, such as electric forklifts and pallet jacks driven by rechargeable batteries.
The initiatives are part of GDEX's ongoing efforts to minimise the group's carbon footprint in its day-to-day activities.
Teong said the auto hub complemented GDEX 2.0 transformation initiative, which entails creating a complete and technology-based logistics ecosystem that meets our customers' increasingly dynamic needs.
"We continue to draw on our roots in process engineering and integrate cutting-edge technical solutions into our operations to provide businesses with speed and dependability.
"We strategically altered how we move shipments while simultaneously rapidly mobilising businesses.
"The express shipping and logistics sector is still an important part of our country's economy and a lifeline for many enterprises." he added.
The company said it continued to play a constructive role in the industry's development while also solidifying its position as a leading player in Southeast Asia.
