KUALA LUMPUR: Feytech Holdings Bhd recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Consortium Automotive of Malaysian Universities to develop an internship pipeline to link five technical public universities with the automotive manufacturing sector.

The consortium is led by Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah and the signing was witnessed by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida).

Under the collaboration, Feytech will provide work-based learning placements, industrial training opportunities and final-year project support under the Higher Education Ministry's Research and Industry-Infused Incubator framework.

The programme includes internship allowances and sponsorships for selected final-year student projects, with high-performing graduates to be considered for employment in Feytech.

"This collaboration creates a pathway for students to learn from real manufacturing environments, work with actual production technologies, solve industry challenges and contribute to innovation even before they graduate," said Mida chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid.

Feytech chief executive officer Connie Go emphasised the importance of talent development as the country transitioned towards electric vehicle adoption.

"This partnership ensures we're not just meeting today's workforce needs, but preparing students for the artificial intelligence-integrated smart factories and electric vehicle production environments of tomorrow," she said.

Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah vice-chancellor and Consortium Automotive chairman Professor Dr Yatimah Alias said the partnership is an important step in bringing universities and the industry together.

"Through the consortium, students will have greater access to meaningful industry exposure and practical learning opportunities in the electric vehicle and automotive manufacturing sectors.

"This collaboration will help universities keep their programmes relevant to the changing needs of the industry," she said.
