Notable filings

During the week of July 13 to 17, notable changes in shareholding among Bursa Malaysia-listed companies included those involving Sarawak-based construction firm Hartanah Kenyalang Bhd (KL:HKB).

Solarvest Holdings Bhd (KL:SLVEST) doubled its deemed stake in Hartanah Kenyalang to 13.05%, or 89 million shares, after acquiring 44 million shares on July 15 from the construction group’s executives — Seah Boon Tiat, Seah Boon Kee and Cheok Liam Fock — through direct business transactions.

The acquisition increased Solarvest’s interest by 6.45% in less than two months. The listed solar company first emerged as a substantial shareholder in Hartanah Kenyalang on May 29, when it subscribed to a private placement that gave it a 6.6% stake, or 45 million shares. Shares in Hartanah Kenyalang have more than doubled from 30 sen apiece in early May to last Tuesday’s close of 61.5 sen, valuing the group at RM419 million.

Over at mechanical and electrical engineering firm ES Sunlogy Bhd (KL:SUNLOGY), construction outfit Kerjaya Prospek Group Bhd (KL:KERJAYA) emerged as a substantial shareholder after acquiring a 9.09% stake via a private placement on July 16.

The stake, comprising 70 million shares subscribed at 26.8 sen apiece, was acquired through Kerjaya’s wholly owned subsidiary, Acumen Marketing Sdn Bhd.

Following the announcement, ES Sunlogy’s shares surged almost 16% to 33.5 sen, reversing a prolonged downtrend. The stock had been under pressure after substantial shareholder Datuk Seri Keh Chuan Seng gradually reduced his holdings before ceasing to be a substantial shareholder at the end of last year.

Elsewhere, Dataprep Holdings Bhd’s (KL:DATAPRP) largest shareholder, Datuk Shamshuri Abdul Majid, pared his stake by 4.62%, or 39.7 million shares, leaving him with an 11.51% interest or 98.99 million shares.

The disposal marks a reversal from his steady accumulation of Dataprep shares over the past year. Shamshuri had increased his interest from 12.26%, or 102.52 million shares, as at Sept 30, 2025, to a peak of 16.59%, or 138.69 million shares, on May 7, 2026, before trimming his holdings last week.

He first emerged as the group’s largest substantial shareholder on July 10, 2024, after acquiring a 5.16% stake, or 38.16 million shares.

Meanwhile, T7 Global Bhd (KL:T7GLOBAL) saw substantial shareholder Marine Energy Sdn Bhd raise its stake by 2.75%, or 27.46 million shares, during the week under review.

Marine Energy now owns a 9.35% stake, or 93.4 million shares, making it T7 Global’s third-largest shareholder. Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) filings show that Marine Energy is equally owned by Michael Aziz Eu Peng Weng and Norain Abdul Rahman.

Notable movements

Despite unveiling a sizeable RM742.02 million private placement to fund capacity expansion, shares of Unisem (M) Bhd (KL:UNISEM) have remained on a strong uptrend, buoyed by optimism over the artificial intelligence (AI) boom. The fundraising exercise, which entails the issuance of up to 161.31 million new shares, or up to 10% of the group’s issued share capital, was announced after Unisem’s shares had surged to a record high of RM5.30 on May 29.
