KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 5): Borneo Oil Bhd (KL:BORNOIL) on Wednesday announced that its chairman Tan Kok Chor passed away on Monday (Aug 4) at the age of 76.

The company announced the cessation of office for Tan’s non-executive chairman role in a bourse filing on Wednesday, following his passing.

"The board extends its deepest condolences to his family and expresses its sincere appreciation for his invaluable contributions and dedicated service to the company,” it added.

Tan has chaired Borneo Oil for more than a decade — since his redesignation to the post from independent and non-executive director in November 2015. He first joined the company’s board in August 2001.

Borneo Oil’s operations span food and franchise operations, property investment and management, and resources and sustainable energy ventures.

In its 2025 Annual Report, the company said Tan, with extensive experience in business, legal and administrative fields, brought a comprehensive perspective to his chairman role.

Beyond his role on the company’s board, it noted that Tan also served on the boards of several private companies in Malaysia.

Shares of Borneo Oil ended unchanged at half a sen, valuing the company at RM43.03 million.
