ON Oct 3 and 4, Sycal Ventures Bhd’s second and third largest shareholders — Fantastic Hallmark Sdn Bhd and Westhill Capital Sdn Bhd respectively — collectively sold 22 million shares or a 6.87% stake in the construction engineering company.

Fantastic Hallmark sold 15 million shares on Oct 3 and 1.3 million shares on Oct 4 while Westhill sold 5.7 million shares on Oct 4. The prices were not disclosed.

Stock market data shows 15 million shares changed hands in five direct deals off market on Oct 3 at 13.3 sen each, a 50.7% discount to the 27 sen they fetched on the open market. On Oct 4, a total of 5.6 million shares changed hands at 14.2 sen each in direct deals, a sizeable discount to open market prices of between 26.5 sen and 27.5 sen. Last Wednesday, the stock closed at 28 sen, down 16.4% year to date.

Fantastic Hallmark’s stake in Sycal decreased to 6.97% post-disposal, a marked reduction from 18.92% as at April 5. Westhill Capital’s stake of 8.95% is down from 10.73% as at April 5. Sycal’s largest shareholder, Datuk Seow Yong Chin, however, increased his holding to 20.93% as at Sept 15 from 20.5% in April.

Between Oct 4 and 10, 28 million shares, or a 2.57% stake, in Yinson Holdings Bhd were transacted off market at RM3.55 each in direct deals.

One of the transactions involved Lembaga Tabung Haji, which sold 14 million shares of the floating, production, storage and offloading service provider on Oct 4 and is no longer a substantial shareholder, filings show.

Yinson’s shares closed at RM3.58 last Wednesday. Its largest shareholder is Lim Han Weng, who had a 28.17% stake as at Sept 11.

At Hubline Bhd, a 3.8% stake or 57 million shares in the break bulk shipping service provider were traded off market on Oct 9 at 11 sen each in direct deals. At press time, there were no filings on substantial shareholder changes. It is worth noting that Pau Chiong Ching is no longer Hubline’s substantial shareholder after disposing of 10 million shares, or a 0.73% stake, on Oct 3.

Concrete and wood-based building material producer Leweko Resources Bhd saw a 4.97% stake or 16 million shares change hands in two direct trades of eight million shares each on Oct 9 and 10 at 28 sen apiece. The stock traded at between 27.5 sen and 28.5 sen on the open market on those days.

Filings show Leweko’s executive director of timber operations Abdul Aziz Jantan disposed of eight million shares on Oct 9 and transferred eight million shares to Western Progress Sdn Bhd, a company in which he is a shareholder, on Oct 10. That left him with a 7.99% direct stake and a 6.24% indirect stake in Leweko.

Leweko’s largest shareholder is Datuk Leong Wei Kong, who has a holding of 30.86%.

Closing at 28 sen last Wednesday, Leweko shares were up 154.6% or 17 sen year to date.

Meanwhile, Spring Gallery Bhd saw 2.6% of its shares traded off market on Oct 5 and 9 — 2.53 million shares at 61.2 sen and 1.91 million shares at 63 sen each. They were done at a discount to open market prices, but the volume was very thin. The transacting parties were not known at press time.

On Oct 5, Spring Gallery said its wholly-owned subsidiary Profit Sunland Sdn Bhd and Prinsip Nusantara Sdn Bhd had mutually agreed to rescind an agreement entered into in April last year that would have made Profit Sunland the managing contractor of a property development, and marked Spring Valley’s first venture in Johor.

The contract was supposed to be worth RM176 million. The RM19 million contract and performance bond that Profit Sunland paid Prinsip Nusantara will be settled with 16 condominium units worth RM13.2 million and RM5.09 million cash it has already received. Profit Sunland will also receive RM2.06 million cash as part of the settlement.
