KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): Based on corporate announcements and news flow today, stocks in focus on Tuesday (Nov 2) may include: Berjaya Corp, Axis REIT, Eden Inc, T7 Global, Unisem, Theta Edge and Jiankun International.

Berjaya Corp Bhd founder and adviser Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun is taking back the reins as executive chairman of the group after relinquishing the position in February 2012.

He will take over the position from his son Datuk Seri Robin Tan Yeong Ching, 43, who will continue to remain as CEO of the group.

Vincent Tan, 65, relinquished the reins five years ago, citing his wish to focus on his philanthropic work.

Berjaya Corp said during this period, the tycoon embarked on various charitable and social programmes and initiatives but at the same time he continued to explore new business opportunities for the group as its founder and adviser.

Axis Real Estate Investment Trust (Axis REIT) is leasing a plot of land from Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd to build an industrial manufacturing facility to be leased to an aerospace components manufacturer.

Its trustee, RHB Trustees Bhd, has inked a sub-lease agreement to lease the 7.02 acre vacant land located in Subang — within the proposed Malaysia International Aerospace Centre (MIAC) Technology Park — from MAHB for 49 years for RM19.88 million.

Axis REIT will then build the manufacturing facility-cum-office building with a gross built up area of 178,978.6 sq ft at a cost of RM74.16 million. It said the aerospace components manufacturer Upeca Aerotech Sdn Bhd has agreed to take up the lease of the building for 20 years, via a build and lease arrangement.

Eden Inc Bhd plans to issue up to 155.68 million free warrants to shareholders on the basis of one warrant for every two shares held.

Assuming full exercise of the warrants at the exercise price of 19.6 sen, Eden said it will potentially raise maximum gross proceeds of RM30.51 million, which the group will use for working capital.

Eden also proposed to issue redeemable convertible medium term notes with an aggregate principal amount of up to RM60 million in four tranches, for a tenure of 36 months.

The notes bear an interest rate of 1% per annum, aiming to fund the group’s turnaround plan.

Eden is primarily involved in managing an aquatic exhibition centre in Langkawi island, operating a restaurant, and running two power plants.

T7 Global Bhd, formerly known as Tanjung Offshore Bhd, has proposed a private placement of 10% of its issued share capital to third party investors to fund existing projects.

The oil and gas services provider said the placement of up to 41.97 million shares is expected to raise between RM14.03 million and RM15.53 million.

T7 said the indicative issue price is assumed at 37 sen per share, representing a discount of about 8.42% to its volume-weighted average market price of 40.4 sen for the five-day period ended Oct 31.

Semiconductor assembly and test services provider Unisem (M) Bhd's net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2017 rose 4.7% year-on-year to RM40.45 million from RM38.63 million, driven by higher sales, improved average selling prices and the appreciation of USD/ringgit exchange rate compared with the prevailing rate in the corresponding period a year ago.

Unisem said revenue for the quarter increased to RM382.32 million from RM321.95 million a year earlier.

Earnings per share stood at 5.51 sen versus 5.26 sen a year ago.

For the nine months ended Sept 30, Unisem posted a net profit of RM127.44 million compared with RM110.95 million a year earlier, on the back of RM1.1 billion in revenue versus RM960.65 million.

Theta Edge Bhd, a subsidiary of Lembaga Tabung Haji, said it has been actively pursuing projects in its ordinary course of business, which are still in discussion, evaluation and/or pending decision at this juncture.

The ICT service provider added that it has been considering a private placement exercise.

"There have been preliminary discussions with potential investors. However at this juncture, nothing has been confirmed or materialised," it said in a reply to Bursa Malaysia's unusual market activity query.

Former Magna Prima Bhd managing director Datuk Lee Kian Seng has been appointed the new MD of property developer Jiankun International Bhd, effective today.

Lee, 55, served as Magna Prima MD from 2006 to 2009, but left afterwards to set up his own property development company Wangsa Group, said Jiankun.
