PETALING JAYA (Nov 8): Aluminium Company of Malaysia Bhd (Alcom) has redesignated its managing director, Heon Chee Shyong, as executive president-cum-chief executive officer of the group.

Meanwhile, recently appointed executive director Datuk Lim Chee Khoon is now managing director, the company said in filings with Bursa Malaysia today.

Lim, 50, was appointed to the board on Oct 13, barely a month after he emerged as a substantial shareholder in Alcom with a 29.54% stake via SCLand Holdings Sdn Bhd.

SCLand had acquired the stake from the Towerpack Sdn Bhd, the private vehicle of Yeoh Jin Hoe, who is the managing director of Kian Joo Can Factory. Towerpack continues to hold a 28.76% stake in Alcom.

Lim is also the former executive chairman and co-founder of Classic Scenic Bhd, and co-founder of SCLand Sdn Bhd.

Separately, Datuk Eng Kim Liong and Ang Loo Leong were appointed executive directors in Alcom.

Eng is also co-founder of SCLand, and both he and Ang have an indirect interest of 39.68 million shares or 29.54% in Alcom via SCLand Holdings.

The appointments follow the resignation of Keith Christopher Yeoh Min Kit and Marc Francis Yeoh Min Chang, both sons of Yeoh Jin Hoe, yesterday.

Shares in Alcom climbed 5 sen or 4.35% today to RM1.20, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM161.2 million.
