KUALA LUMPUR (April 27): Leweko Resources Bhd said today it has called off its collaboration with Vietnam’s National University of Civil Engineering Technology Development and Investment Joint Stock Co (NUCETECH) for the construction of pedestrian bridges in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta and cities.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Leweko said its unit Dura Technology Sdn Bhd had on April 20 given a three-month notice to NUCETECH to terminate the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

"Following the termination of the MoU, Dura will not be liable for any damages or compensation which will be effective on July 19," it added.

In March 2016, Dura and NUCETECH had signed an MoU on the direction of cooperation under two phases, namely the construction of a pilot ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) (Phase 1) and cooperation in the construction of a UHPC production factory (Phase 2).

Set up on May 17, 2010, NUCETECH is home to a group of engineers from Vietnam’s National University of Civil Engineering in the field of building materials and building structures.

Leweko shares closed up one sen or 3.92% at 26.5 sen today, valuing it at RM85.3 million.
