YTL Power and Tenaga fall after Frost & Sullivan says Malaysia IPPs could be subject to review
KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): YTL Power International Bhd closed 4.5 sen or 5% lower at 77.5 sen while Tenaga Nasional Bhd slipped 32 sen to RM15.34 after Frost & Sullivan said today Malaysia independent power producers (IPPs) could be subject to a review of their asset acquisitions during the previous government.
"In the power generation sector, IPPs which were awarded through direct negotiation without direct competitive bidding could be reviewed," Frost & Sullivan wrote in a note.
At Bursa Malaysia, YTL Power saw some 63 million shares traded to become the bourse's fifth most-active stock. Fifth-largest decliner Tenaga saw about 19 million shares transacted.
