KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 21): Binasat Communications Bhd's chief operating officer, Zulamran Hamat, has been named by the group as its new chief executive officer.

Binasat said Zulamran, 47, will remain as an executive director of the group.

Zulamran has 19 years of working experience in the satellite and telecommunications industry, the group said in a filing today.

He started his career at Southern Wire Industries Sdn Bhd, working from 1994 till 1998. He then joined Communications & Satellite Services Sdn Bhd.

In 2013, he joined Binasat Sdn Bhd. From 2014 to May 2017, he was involved in the business of engineering works and also a director of Binalite Electrical Engineering Sdn Bhd.

Binasat shares closed unchanged at 44 sen today, with a market capitalisation of RM114.4 million.
