KLCI to track global losses, hurdle at 1,750

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 11): The FBM KLCI is expected the track the overnight losses at global markets and remain lacklustre with immediate hurdle at the 1,750.

The is despite the bargain hunting opportunities following the sharp fall at the local bourse on Wednesday as investors are likely to take a wait and see approach ahead of the 11th Malaysia Plan mid-term review later this month as well as tabling of Budget 2019 on Nov.

Stocks on major world markets slid to a three-month low on Wednesday, with the benchmark S&P500 stock index falling more than 3.0 percent, its biggest one-day fall since February, according to Reuters.

Technology shares tumbled on fears of slowing demand, while bond yields ended lower after seeing multi-year highs earlier this week, it said.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 831.83 points, or 2.2 percent, to 25,598.74. The S&P 500 lost 94.66 points, or 3.29 percent, to 2,785.68 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 315.97 points, or 4.08 percent, to 7,422.05, said Reuters.

Based on corporate announcements and news flow yesterday, companies in focus today may include: LPI Capital Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd, Red Ideas Holdings Bhd, MCE Holdings Bhd, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), Gamuda Bhd, MMC Corp Bhd, CNI Holdings Bhd and mTouche Technology Bhd.
