Jamelah Jamaluddin redesignated as Scomi Energy chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 30): Datuk Jamelah Jamaluddin has been redesignated as chairman of Scomi Energy Services Bhd today to fill a seat left vacant by the resignation of Tan Sri Nik Mohamed Nik Yaacob on July 19.

Nik Mohamed had cited to devote time to other responsibilities and personal commitments as the reason for resigning then.

Jamelah was appointed as an independent non-executive director of the group on Nov 15, 2013.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Scomi Energy said Jamelah, 61, had served as the managing director (MD) of Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Labuan Bhd from March 2013 to September 2013.

She was the chief executive officer (CEO) of Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Bhd (KFH Malaysia) from February 2010 to March 2013.

She also served RHB Islamic Bank Bhd as MD from August 2007 to January 2010. Her previous working experience include deputy CEO of KFH Malaysia from November 2006 to August 2007, chief operating officer of RHB Sakura Merchant Bankers Bhd from January 2004 to November 2006 and division director of Macquarie Malaysia (M) Sdn Bhd and Macquarie Bank Ltd (Labuan Branch) from August 1999 to November 2003.

She also sits on the board of Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Bhd, PMB Tijari Bhd and Weida (M) Bhd.

Scomi Energy shares were untraded in the morning session. It last closed at 4 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM93.67 million.
