THE long-awaited vote on Brexit, which was supposed to take place on Tuesday, was effectively suspended after the British prime minister pulled the rug from under the United Kingdom’s Member of Parliaments (MPs) at the 11th hour in what was seen to be an act of cowardice of Theresa May, knowing that she does not have the support of the MPs to approve the EU-brokered Brexit deal by the parliament.

While her argument is valid that a Brexit will still occur, the question is whether the United Kingdom have a deal or no deal. A deal will give the United Kingdom more space to manoeuvre the exit out of the European Union while a rejection by the House of Commons would have meant that the United Kingdom leaves the European Union on March 29, 2019 without a deal.

Of course, there is also a third option, i.e. the United Kingdom could still revoke the Article 50 unilaterally and perhaps go back to the voters again for a second referendum as many Brexiters were believed to have been duped into voting for Brexit based on a “Brexit Fantasy” rather than a “Brexit Reality”.
