KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 11): The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will work closely with Bernama News Channel (BNC), a unit under the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), to enhance its communication activities.

MCMC chairman Al-Ishsal Ishak said the long-term collaboration was needed in view of the diversification of its duties and responsibilities under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) that should be disseminated to industry and all levels of society.

“Bernama is a trusted agency and has resources across the country as well as infrastructure to help MCMC disseminate news, stories or interviews nationwide.

“If we can combine our resources and expertise, Insya-Allah (God willing) we will be able to produce better work in terms of what we are doing today,” he said after a meeting with Bernama Chief Executive Officer Nurini Kassim at Wisma Bernama here today.

Also present were Bernama Editor-in-Chief Datuk Zakaria Abdul Wahab, MCMC Digital Communications and Ecosystem Sector chief officer Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus and MCMC Digital Industry Development and Commercialisation chief officer Gerard Lim Kim Meng.

Al-Ishsal said MCMC had some key plans for the first quarter of this year, including to carry out studies on the spectrum and structure of the country’s industry in line with the government and KKMM’s efforts to expand quality wireless technology at affordable prices.
