Country Heights appoints new CEO

KUALA LUMPUR (March 15): Country Heights Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Low Kok Thai as its new group chief executive officer, effective immediately.

The position was left vacant when Lee Cheng Wen, the daughter of Country Heights founder and executive chairman Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew, was re-designated as the deputy chairman on Oct 1, 2016.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Country Heights said Low, 49, is previously an entrepreneur, having founded Globalsoft (MSC) Sdn Bhd in 1997, which focused on enterprise resource planning and ticketing system solutions.

"In 2005, he set up Globalsoft Suzhou Co Ltd. In 2009, Globalsoft Suzhou merged with HiGalaxy (Beijing) and Bimbit (MSC) Sdn Bhd and was renamed Galasys Global (Suzhou) Co Ltd.

"In 2003, Globalsoft (MSC) Sdn Bhd was listed on Bursa Malaysia. In 2008, Low sold the listed company shares, and focus on the ticketing business in China," it added.

Under the leadership of Low, Galasys became one of the world's top ticketing system suppliers. On May 12, 2015, Galasys was listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).

Country Heights shares closed up 0.05 sen or 3.33% at RM1.55 today, with 24,000 shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM424.01 million.
