Matang chairman resigns, search underway for replacement

KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): MCA-linked Matang Bhd independent non-executive chairman Datuk Teh Kean Ming has resigned from his post effective immediately.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the plantation group cited "due to other commitments" as a reason for Teh's departure.

It added that it would fill the vacancy within three months in order to comply with the ACE Market listing requirements.

Teh also stepped down as a member of Matang’s nomination, audit and remuneration committees.

According to Matang's Annual Report 2018, Teh, 64, was appointed to the board of directors on Sept 1, 2015. 

In 1989, Teh joined IJM Construction Sdn Bhd as a project manager. He was promoted to senior project manager in 1994 and to
project director in 1998. He was then transferred to IJM Corp Bhd from 2001 to 2008 as the head of the property division. He was appointed as deputy chief executive officer (CEO) and deputy managing director (MD) of IJM from 2008 to 2010 and was appointed as the CEO and MD in January 2011 before he retired on April 5, 2015. In July 2015, he was the managing director of JKG Land Bhd, formerly known as Keladi Maju Bhd.

Shares in Matang closed unchanged at 7.5 sen today, with 12.82 million shares done, bringing a market value of RM135.75 million.
